Leg 6: Thailand

I lovingly refer to this section of our journey, the Thai Train. And who could forget the infamous THAI HOT DOG?!!!!! You really had to be there. But, thank your lucky stars you weren't!!! Otherwise you would've shared the joyous time that Conor and I had the next few days.

The train ride was 9-10 hours from the border of Cambodia to Bangkok. We took it for the adventure, and it was cheap. Maybe $2 a person in US dollars? I don't recall but was amazed at the bargain. Train wasn't too bad, but the seats have straight backs, padded, but gets sore after barreling along that many miles.

We had a couple small snacks but Conor started getting hungry. After watching the people peddle their wares up and down the aisle for hours, Conor couldn't resist. Not only did he buy a Thai hot dog with spicy chili sauce, he bought two. He made me take a bite and it was awful. Tasted like a fishy, spicy hot dog. Sick! There was nowhere to spit it out. Apparently our delicate American stomachs couldn't hack the Thai Train Hot Dog!!! We paid for it for several days. After that we were more cautious and unadventurous in our food choices.

The Cambodia border. Our driver in Banteay Chhmar drove us as close as he could and we walked the remainder.
The Passport at the border of Thailand was a joke. It took us 2 1/2 hours I believe to get through. Barely made our train to Bangkok! Luckily our umbrella from San Francisco came in handy to shade us since we were in the sun most the time.

The Thailand border into Cambodia.

Conor quite pleased to acquire his Thai hot dogs!
