Leg 4: Angkor Wat, Cambodia

Angkor Wat is THE place to see when you visit Cambodia. Is seems to have the largest concentration of temples and best restoration. We wanted to see the temple, but spent less than 24 hours here. It would've been nice to have a little more time so we wouldn't have been as rushed, but our next destination was our favorite of the trip.

Our hotel was really nice, included a free massage, breakfast, and water and snacks the following day. You do not drink water, brush your teeth with tap water, etc. We bought A LOT of water on this trip. It was hot and humid and so gross. It was in the 90s for temp, then humidity on top of that. THE MOST humid and hot place I've ever been. And to think we were there during the "cool" season and nicer weather. hahaha-yikes! Amazing my hair stayed as straight as it did. : ) I finally caved and put my hair in a ponytail. You know it's hot when I resort to that.

Our guide we hired to tour Angkor Wat. I believe he was 33 years old and looked 19. He's not married because he doesn't have enough money saved. Men pay the girl's parents money before they can marry. I believe the going rate was $10, 000-12,000 for an "average" Cambodian girl. If she come from a wealthy family, then much more. This is a lot of money for them but part of their culture. He can't even date until he's got the cash put together. Sad. He told us, "No Money, No Honey"!!!

We loved getting fresh fruit! Notice they all like American money. Crispy American money.
